Maya MacGuineas and Barry Anderson testified about the economic outlook and fiscal policy in the U.S. and abroad. In their remarks they recommended that the government consider capping payments from benefit programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security to avoid a future fiscal crisis such as the one Europe was currently facing. Other issues addressed were tax system reform, spending cuts in various other areas, health care costs, and public use of an online debt reduction simulator. close
