The panel talked about U.S. and European approaches to engaging with Iran. They talked about the viability of multilateral approaches in efforts to stabilize the Middle East and Persian Gulf. Other topics included the differences between President Bush’s approach and President Obama’s, the role of Israel in diplomatic negotiations, and the implications of Iranian President Ahmadinejad’s rhetoric in regards to the Iranian nuclear program.
