George McGovern, former U.S. senator, former governor, and 1972 Democratic presidential nominee, talked about his plans for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq. He and co-author William Polk wrote a book, Out of Iraq: A Practical Plan for Withdrawal Now, published by Simon and Schuster. Senator McGovern criticized President Bush and his administration for beginning the war in Iraq, comparing it with the Vietnam War. After his remarks he was joined by Mr. Polk, and they both responded to questions submitted by members of the audience. close
