The American Sociological Association sponsored a panel entitled "U.S. Racial & Ethnic Diversity". Panelists discussed the trends of diversity in the country and what motivated them. They speculated about melting pot theories and the preservation of ethnic cultures and whether either should be encouraged by social policy. Following their prepared remarks, the speakers took questions from the audience. close
