Ms. Salbi spoke about her memoir Between Two Worlds: Escape From Tyranny: Growing Up in the Shadow of Saddam, published by Gotham. She told the story of how her family came into Saddam Hussein’s extended circle when her father was asked to become the private pilot for the man she called “uncle.” Ms. Salbi also talked about why she decided to tell her story, the repression she witnessed in Iraq under Saddam Hussein, and the mistreatment of women by the regime. Following her remarks, she responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.
