The Helsinki Commission, also known as the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, heard testimony from human rights organizations and foreign policy analysts on the human rights situation in Turkey. Issues raised in the hearing included previous investigations into human rights in Turkey, the treatment of detainees in Turkish prisons, and proposals to influence Turkish human rights policies through U.S. foreign policy. Following their prepared remarks, the witnesses responded to questions from members of the audience. close
