A panel discussion was held on the Truman administration’s foreign policy in East Asia following World War II, focusing on Japan. After their papers were presented, the panelists responded to questions submitted by members of the audience. Mr. Geselbracht moderated.

Marc Gallicchio spoke on “Truman, Unconditional Surrender, and a New Deal for Japan;” Sayuri Shimizu spoke on “Japanese Reaction to MacArthur’s Firing;” and Roger Dingman spoke on “Truman’s Gift: Peace and Security with Japan.”
