Kath Weston talked about her book Traveling Light: On the Road with America’s Poor (Beacon Press; September 1, 20080. She spent five years traveling the United States by bus for the book. The book profiles the lives of people whom she considers “moving through poverty.” Her discussions with people aboard numerous buses, range from politics and history to economics and the conversational. Following her remarks she responded to questions from the audience.

Kath Weston is the author of several books, including Render Me, Gender Me and Families We Choose. Ms. Weston is an anthropology and women studies professor at the University of Virginia. close
