John Pistole testified about the safety of the U.S. transportation system. Mr. Pistole was confirmed as head of the Transportation Security Administration in late June. He talked about a number of issues, including a broadening of the number of TSA employees with security clearances, and reports of misconduct within the Federal Air Marshal service. As TSA Administrator, Mr. Pistole oversees a workforce of 60,000 and is responsible for security at more than 450 airports, as well as protecting the nation’s highways, railroads, ports, mass transit systems and pipelines. close
