President-Elect Obama held a rally at the 30th Street Station in Philadelphia before boarding a train headed toward Washington, D.C., in the first stage of his inaugural rail journey. In his remarks he spoke about the American Revolution and called on Americans “to take up the work” the founders had begun in Philadelphia. He also invoked the presidency of Abraham Lincoln in his call to perfect the Union. close
