Louis Menand discussed the life and work of Edmund Wilson, author of To the Finland Station. Mr. Menand wrote a new introduction to the recent paperback edition from New York Review of Books. To the Finland Station, first published in 1940, is Wilson’s critical and historical study of revolutionary politics and ideas from the French Revolution to the Bolshevik seizure of power in 1917. It features portraits of such figures Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky. A question and answer period followed Professor Menand’s presentation. close
