Two House subcommittees held a joint hearing on “Rendition to Torture: The Case of Maher Arar.” Testifying by remote connection, Mr. Arar, a Canadian, described being detained at JFK Airport and deported to Syria where he was imprisoned and tortured. Professor Roach testified by remote connection about a Canadian independent commission report which showed that Mr. Arar had committed no offenses.
