Dorie McCullough Lawson talked about her book Posterity: Letters of Great Americans to Their Children, published by Doubleday. The book includes letters written by influential figures in the last two hundred years of American history including Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Theodore Roosevelt, N.C. Wyeth, Anne Sexton, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Albert Einstein, William Faulkner, and George H.W. Bush. Ms. Lawson provides biographical information on each of the writers of the one hundred letters cited. In order to show the private family life of these public figures, she edits and divides the letters by theme, such as “love” and “struggle.”
