Pat Buchanan talked about his book State of Emergency: The Third World Invasion and Conquest of America, published by Thomas Dunne Books. He charged Mexico with a conscious campaign to send its poor and unemployed citizens to America for economic and social relief. He also discussed legal immigration, and, after his presentation, he responded to audience members' questions. Topics included Lebanon, the Israeli conflict, Iran’s nuclear developments, the Vietnam War, and President Nixon.

Mr. Buchanan is co-editor of the American Conservative magazine and a syndicated columnist. He wrote The Death of the West and A Republic, Not an Empire. Mr. Buchanan ran for the Republican nomination for president in 1992 and 1996 and was the Reform Party’s presidential candidate in 2000. In 1969, Mr. Buchanan was a White House adviser and speechwriter to Richard Nixon and Vice President Spiro Agnew. close
