Thomas Parrish talked about his book Submarine: A History, published by Viking Penguin. The book presented a comprehensive history of the creation and emergence of submarines as an effective war machine. Beginning during World War I with the German U-Boat, submarines became the mode by which militaries could attack other ships beneath the surface and later became a platform for various military and covert operations. Mr. Parrish’s book tells the story of the submarine from the early drafts of its inventors to its current role as an integral part of naval militaries around the world. Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
