Bruce Bueno de Mesquita talked about his book The Predictioneer’s Game: Using the Logic of Brazen Self-Interest to See and Shape the Future (Random House; September 29, 2009). Professor Bueno de Mesquita uses game theory to predict the outcomes of business and government quandaries. Based on the premise that a) people compete and b) they always do what is in their own best interest, the author is said to have a 90-percent accuracy rate in predictions. He talked about current problems, predicting that the U.S. will not stop terrorist influence in Pakistan, that legislative attempts to curb global warming will fail, and that Iran will not develop nuclear weapons.

He responded to questions submitted by members of the audience. close
