Jack Bass was interviewed by the Book TV Bus at the South Carolina Reading Festival. He talked about the Orangeburg Massacre. The Massacre was a police shooting into a crowd of unarmed, black students who were protesting segregation at a bowling alley in Orangeburg, South Carolina, on February 8, 1968. The shooting, which killed three and wounded 27 students, occurred on the campus of South Carolina State University two years before the Kent State and Jackson State shootings. Mr. Bass talked about the lack of governmental response to the shooting.
