Lawrence Spivak, former moderator, and producer of the Sunday morning news program “Meet The Press” which aired first on NBC radio and then NBC television from 1947 to 1975 discussed the creation and history of the long-running program. He discussed memorable experiences during his involvement with the show, including the appearance of presidential candidates from Thomas Dewey to Richard Nixon, and discussed his journalistic approach in selecting and questioning his guests. Spry 96-year-old Spivak provided an interesting perspective on the philosophy of early shows including the importance of the height and location of press and interviewee in controlling the degree of interaction. close
