Using their book, The Future of the Race, published by Alfred A. Knopf, as a basis, Professors Gates and West talked about the future of African-Americans. They concentrated on the responsibilities of the government and of the rapidly increasing African-American middle class for those less fortunate in our society. They took questions from the audience.
