Journalists Nicholas Kulish and Souad Mekhennet talked about their book, The Eternal Nazi: From Mauthausen to Cairo, the Relentless Pursuit of SS Doctor Aribert Heim, in which they recount the manhunt for Nazi doctor Aribert Heim, accused of violent acts against the imprisoned while at the Mauthausen concentration camp in 1941. In their book, the authors report that Heim escaped Allied arrest following World War II, and reinvented his life in Egypt. He was pursued over several decades by investigators, namely Alfred Aedtner in alliance with Simon Wiesenthal, and died before the discovery of his whereabouts. Nicholas Kulish and Souad Mekhennet spoke with National Public Radio’s (NPR) Guy Raz at Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C. close
