Moderated by Professor Blight, a panel of black scholars from history, law, linguistics, and business discussed the nature of historical justice in regard to slavery in the United States and how America should respond to its support of slavery during its founding and over several generations. They discussed whether 150 years after the end of slavery this past injustice can be repaired, if there is a collective responsibility in America for the nation’s direct support for slavery over several generations, and if racial healing should be sought in some form, whether economically, symbolically, educationally, or in policy, or if America’s evolution into a free society has been the answer. After their presentations the panelists answered audience members' questions. close
