Jonathan Mahler talked about Hamdan v. Rumsfeld, the Supreme Court case where the attorneys for Guantanamo detainee Salim Hamdan, former driver for Osama bin Laden, challenged the legality of the military commissions set up in Guantanamo Bay and President Bush’s authority to establish them. Mr. Mahler was joined by Charles Swift and Neal Katyal, the former JAG officer and Georgetown University Law School professor, respectively, who defended Hamdan. They responded to questions from the audience members following their discussion.
