Timothy Naftali moderated a discussion among eyewitnesses to the impromptu debate between Vice President Nixon and Soviet Premier Nikita Khruschev on July 24, 1959, at the American National Exhibition in Moscow. Photographs of the event and a video of the meeting of the two world leaders were shown behind the speakers on the Archives stage. Also shown was a video clip of a 2008 oral history interview with William Safire. The panelists were former Ambassador Gilbert Robinson, the exhibition coordinator, and exhibition guides Tatiana Sochurek and George Feifer. They also responded to questions from members of the audience. close
