A panel discusses the definition of "classic", how a book becomes a classic, and the authors that write them. The panelists listed some of their favorite books and also spoke about contemporary authors. They responded to questions from members of the audience. The panel was moderated by Mr. Boyd. Ms. Jackson introduced the program.

Herb Boyd is the author of We Shall Overcome. Ebele Oseye is the author of Let the Lion Eat Straw, as Ellease Southerland. Mary Monroe is the author of In Sheep’s Clothing. Vincent Carretta is the editor of Interesting Narrative and Other Writings and the author of Equiano, the African: Biography of a Self-Made Man. Reginald Pitts is the co-editor of Our Nig: or, Sketches from the Life of a Free Black, written by Harriet E. Wilson. close
