The 2005 Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission held a regional hearing on the list of possible closures and realignments of defense bases. Elected officials and community representatives testified about the impact of closing or realigning military installations in Texas and Arkansas. The installations under consideration were the Carswell Air Force Base (Fort Worth, TX), Naval Air Station Chase Field (Beeville, TX), Naval Air Station Dallas (TX), Kelly Air Force Base (San Antonio, TX), Red River Army Depot (TX), Reese Air Force Base (TX), Eaker Air Force Base (AR), and Fort Chaffee (AR). close
