At its annual dinner the Radio and Television Correspondents' Association presented awards to journalists for their contributions to the news industry. Olly Lambert accepted the David Bloom Award via video from abroad. A clip of his documentary was shown. A retrospective was shown of the late C-SPAN photographer Eric Hansen, recipient of the Jerry Thompson Award, and of Vic Ratner, recipient of a career achievement award. A clip was shown of the Joan S. Barone Award-winning news story. White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough addressed the gathering, speaking humorously about his job but seriously about the importance of debate to democracy. Comedian Nick Offerman provided entertainment.

The dinner began with a humorous video by the D.C. Comedy Writers.
