Sponsored by the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies of the Walsh School of Foreign Service, Ambassador Moustapha talked about Syria’s role in recent regional events in the Middle East, as well as U.S.-Syria relations. Among the topics he addressed were the history of the Syrian military presence in Lebanon, recent calls by popular Lebanese groups for Syrian military withdrawal, recent drawbacks of Syrian military personnel and plans for phased removal of troops, and the goals of Syrian foreign policy. Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience.

Ambassador Moustapha was formerly the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Damascus. close
