Participating by telephone, Professor Bloch spoke about the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court. She discussed Judge Alito’s dissent of the upholding of a statute banning the possession or transfer of machine guns. Professor Bloch said that the nominee had been consistent in his rulings in terms of his narrow view of congressional powers, including the commerce clause.
