Author David Maraniss talked about his book They Marched Into Sunlight: War and Peace, Vietnam and America, October 1967, published by Simon & Schuster. The book told the story of two events in October 1967. One event was a battle in Vietnam, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 70 American soldiers. The other event was an anti-war protest at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He was joined in the discussion by Clark Welch and Paul Soglin, two of the participants in the events the book described. They responded to viewer telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail. Many photographs were shown as well as some video from one of Mr. Maraniss’s research trips to Wisconsin.
