Defense experts talked about the Pentagon’s review of the ten-year effects of President Obama’s military budget reduction plan along with the sequestration-based cuts as mandated in the Budget Control Act of 2011. Some of the topics they discussed were the impact of funding reductions on military readiness, Army personnel, and military strategy. Michael O’Hanlon predicted that fiscal year 2014 would be some of the most harmful to the military under sequestration, and that Congress might try to lessen the impact of those cuts in a future budget deal. Mackenzie Eaglen said the military could not achieve its strategic goals if the sequester remained in place. The program also included questions from audience members. close
