Henry Schuelke, the attorney investigating the prosecution of former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee. In his final report he said Justice Department officials withheld information that would have “seriously damaged the testimony and credibility of the government’s key witness.” Senator Stevens was convicted of failing to report gifts in October of 2008, but that conviction was thrown out at the request of the Justice Department after evidence surfaced of prosecutorial misconduct. close
