LaDonna Pavetti talked about federal government spending of about $17 billion annually to fund the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, and she responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. The money heads to states to develop welfare programs that include requirements for work-related activity.

This program is part of C-SPAN’s “Your Money” series, which looks at how taxpayer dollars are spent. Most Monday mornings, some of the last hour of “Washington Journal” is devoted to a federal program, focusing on its mission, participants, and cost. close
