State Department representatives briefed reporters and answered questions on the department’s announcement that it had suspended operations in and withdrawn employees from the U.S. Embassy in Libya. The Obama administration also announced plans to impose sanctions against the Moammar Gadhafi’s government in order to pressure the regime from using violence against those protesting. close
