They spoke about the Sputnik launch and the impact it made on U.S. space and science policy, the resulting investment in science, technology and education, and ways in which the event shaped the Cold War. They also talked about U.S. foreign policy and business practices following the launch and subsequent "space race." Thomas P. Stafford was a former NASA astronaut and co-leader of the Apollo-Soyuz flight. Jay Walker, chairman of Walker Digital, LLC, founder of Priceline.com owned the real Sputnik, which was on display at the event.
