Mr. Kluger talked about his biography, Splendid Solution: Jonas Salk and the Conquest of Polio, published by G.P. Putnam’s Sons. The author described the childhood of Jonas Salk, his work with the influenza vaccine while studying in college, and the press conference in 1955 when Mr. Salk announced that the polio vaccine had been perfected. Mr. Kluger answered questions from members of the audience following his presentation.
