Officials from tourism bureaus and businesses in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Florida spoke about the damages from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill to the region’s tourism industry. BP compensation claims fund Administrator Kenneth Feinberg testified on the process by which the claims facility would evaluate tourism-related claims. Administrator Feinberg said he would issue a blueprint for how the compensation facility will process claims. He also said that “proximity” to oil damages would be the measurement when assessing claims. close
