Interior Department officials testified about the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and outer continental shelf gas and oil strategy. In their remarks they reiterated BP’s commitment to honor all legitimate claims and said that they would use the power of the federal government to ensure the commitment was honored. They also talked about the Mineral Management Service and highlighted some of the malfeasance that took place at the agency. Secretary Salazar said that incidents outlined in a report took place during the Bush administration and noted that some MMS employees have been terminated and others placed on administrative leave. close
