Department of Justice Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald spoke to reporters about the grand jury indictment against Lewis “Scooter” Libby, who was charged with committing five crimes: one count of obstruction of justice, two counts of perjury, and two counts of making false statements. Mr. Fitzgerald discussed the identity leak of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operative Valerie Wilson, the subsequent Justice Department investigation, and Mr. Libby’s actions. Following his remarks, he responded to questions and comments from the reporters.

Scooter Libby, the Chief of Staff to Vice President Cheney, resigned hours after the indictment was returned by the grand jury.
