University of Oklahoma Law Professor Anita Hill who was taking a sabbatical to talk about the issue of sexual harassment to groups around the country was the keynote speaker at the sixth annual conference of the National Black Women’s Health Project. The law professor, who testified in the Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas on sexual harassment that allegedly occurred when Ms. Hill worked for Judge Thomas, addressed the conference on “Lessons Learned from Speaking Truth to Power.” The speech centered on the process through which sexual harassment issues may eventually be addressed by those in power. Prior to Ms. Hill’s keynote speech, several speakers lauded the goals and accomplishments of the National Black Women’s Health Project, and meeting attendees united to sing an anthem for their cause. Following the keynote address, several awards were given to black women of accomplishment. close
