Charles Rappleye talked about his book Sons of Providence: The Brown Brothers, the Slave Trade, and the American Revolution, published by Simon and Schuster. In his book he investigated the history of the Brown brothers, who were responsible for establishing Brown University. He described the involvement of Moses and John Brown in the American Revolution and in the triangular slave trade. He also discussed the brothers' actions and beliefs and the role the history of slavery plays in today’s society. After his presentation he responded to audience members' questions. close
