Howard Dodson moderated a panel discussion on the bicentennial of the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade to the United States. David Eltis talked about the database he helped compile: "Extending the Frontiers: Essays on the New Transatlantic Slave Trade." Thomas Norman DeWolf, author of Inheriting the Trade: A Northern Family Confronts Its Legacy as the Largest Slave-Trading Dynasty in U.S. History, described the process of writing his book. Rosanne Marion Adderley and Sylviane A. Diouf talked about their respective books, New Negroes from Africa: Slave Trade Abolition and Free African Settlement in the Nineteenth-century Caribbean and Dreams of Africa in Alabama: The Slave Ship Clotilda and the Last Africans Brought to America. Panel members then responded to questions from the audience.
