Subcommittee members heard testimony concerning laws to prevent the practice of telephone slamming, which is the unauthorized change of a consumer’s phone carrier. Representatives from long distance telephone service providers and consumer groups gave testimony. The subcommittee is considering legislation that would create new obstacles to telephone slamming. close
