U.S. Senate Historian Don Ritchie talked about changes in the Senate since the 1960s. He displayed a picture taken in the Senate chamber on September 24, 1963, which he said represents a situation very different from the current Senate. Topics included changes in the calendar, procedures, ethics, membership, and media coverage. He responded to questions from members of the audience in the Russell Senate Office Building.

“The Senate in the Sixties: The Transformation of a Traditional Institution” was part of the August Brown Bag luncheon series of the U.S. Capitol Historical Society. close
