Professor John Lampe, Chairman of the History Dept at the University of Maryland, talked about the situation in the former Yugoslavia, following the assassination earlier that week of Serbia’s Prime Minister and the official dismantling of the Yugoslav Republic. One of the former Balkan regions, Kosovo, is still the subject of dispute among the nations of the area and is still administered by the United Nations. Professor Lampe responded to audience telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail.

Professor Lampe is the author of Yugoslavia as History: Twice There Was a Country, published by Cambridge University Press. close
