Richard Norton Smith conducted a tour of historical sites. A C-SPAN videojournalist accompanied the group. Included are several sites in Virginia including the Appomattox Court House where General Lee surrendered to General Grant, and Stratford Hall Plantation, birthplace of Robert E. Lee.

This “Presidents and Patriots” tour April 28 - May 7, 2006, visited presidential sites and Civil War and Revolutionary War sites in the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. The tour was organized by the Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies at Grand Valley State University and the National Archives. close
