A bipartisan group of Senators introduced media shield legislation that would codify the Justice Department’s recently announced media guidelines into law. Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) were the main sponsors of this bill. The bill would make it harder for prosecutors to obtain reporters' phone records without advance notice, and ensure journalists can protect the identity of their anonymous sources with some exceptions. close
