Professor Shelley, who also teaches Justice, Law, and Society at American University, talked about international sex trafficking and relevant aspects of U.S. policy. According to the U.S. Department of State, international sex trafficking generates $10 billion and victimizes 900,000 people per year. Ms. Shelley responded to audience telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail.

A video clip from President Bush’s September 23 speech to the United Nations General Assembly was shown. In the clip, the president warned against the evils and dangers of allowing international trade in sex slaves. close
