Members compared the major areas of the committee’s draft report on future tobacco policy with the tobacco settlement in order to evaluate the settlement. The major areas of discussion were the ability of the Food and Drug Administration to regulate tobacco products, enforcement of the child tobacco use reduction requirements, funding for public health initiatives and smoking cessation programs, international tobacco control, disclosure of tobacco company documents, and future litigation against the tobacco companies in the settlement.

The Advisory Committee on Tobacco Policy and Public Health held its third meeting. Members compared the major areas of the committee’s draft report on future tobacco policy with the tobacco settlement in order to evaluate the settlement.
