September 11 Commission Report
In the morning session of the hearing Chairman Goss read his letter of resignation that he had offered to the Speaker of the House. He said that while he wished to remain a member of the committee, he would step aside as chairman while proceedings for his nomination as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency moved forward. Witnesses testified about the final report from the Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States. Among the topics they addressed were proposals to create a new head of intelligence to coordinate all government intelligence agencies and efforts, coordinating intelligence information in law enforcement efforts, and the nature of possible terrorist threats.
