Senator Roland Burris spoke at a public policy luncheon held by the City Club of Chicago. He defended himself in the midst of the multiple probes into the circumstances surrounding his appointment by former Governor Rod Blagojevich, his contacts with the governor’s office prior to the appointment, and statements made under oath to an impeachment inquiry in Illinois. The U.S. Senate Ethics Committee announced the same day that it would investigate the charges. Senator Burris said that he had done nothing wrong and had nothing to hide. close
